VINEYARD

Oakville Vineyard—Oakville: Located at the southern end of the Oakville AVA, east side
of Hwy 29 and just north of Yountville, the vineyard soil is gravelly alluvial loam, similar
to the To Kalon Vineyard on the west side of the Hwy. The climate is moderately warm in
the afternoons, and strongly affected by the night and early morning fog, which helps to
keep acidity levels in balance.

Atalon Vineyard—Calistoga: Situated at the base of Mount Saint Helena at the head of
the Napa Valley in Calistoga. The 31-acre vineyard site ranges from fertile clay to gravelly
alluvial soils. With warm mid-valley climate contributing a combination of high intensity
yet balanced supple opulence.

Age of Vines & Soil Type: 5-28 years; This blend is a great handprint of the Napa Valley. Valley floor vineyards are well-drained loam and clay loams, formed by alluvial deposits. The western mountain topsoil is shallow and acidic with low fertility, while the eastern mountain top soils are more volcanic, with poor fertility and incredible minerality.
Harvest Dates and Sugar: Harvest started on 9/1 and ended on 10/6/2017 for all components. Sugar average roughly 24.5° Brix at harvest.

WINEMAKING

Aged 27 months in French oak, 37% new

TASTING NOTES

Deep garnet in color with aromas of black forest fruits, dark cherry, and lingonberry and is complemented with notes of espresso, dark chocolate, cedar and graphite. The palate is met with flavors of chocolate truffle, berry pie, mocha, and black pepper. The sweet oak spice adds a vibrant lift to the wine while the mid palate is full and creamy with well-integrated tannins. The wine expresses a long finish and pairs well with rich foods or is delicious on its own. It drinks wonderfully now and will cellar well for decades.
