TASTING NOTES

Beautifully integrated tropical flavors such as pineapple, mango and papaya, with citrus notes that explode in your mouth. These flavors delicately intertwine with aromas of vanilla and honey to create depth and balance throughout. A hint of toasted oak and butter rounds out the long, lingering finish

KEY POINTS

  • Dynamic raspberry and spice flavors from grapes grown in Mendocino County, luscious jam and strawberry flavors from Sonoma County fruit

  • Grapes are harvested from fractured rock and gravelly loam soils with great drainage, showcasing their full potential of great fruit and chalky tannins

  • Vineyards are mostly older, if not historic, and dry farmed with well established root systems and low yields.

VINIFICATION

Aged 8 months in French and American oak, 12% new.

TASTING NOTES

Plum, raspberry jam and blackberry flavors are supported with solid chalky tannins in this Zinfandel. Sultry cedar and spice accents linger on this captivating, long-finishing wine.

Grand Reserve is a winemaker’s blend of our mountain, ridge, hillside and benchland grapes grown along California’s cool coastal appellations. We select grapes from our best estate vineyards and then monitor, taste and guide each individual lot throughout the winemaking process. Each lot is kept separate, barrel-aged and crafted—boutique winery style. Our winemakers have an unmatched palette of flavors, toast levels and terroir nuances from which they masterfully blend these exemplary rich, deep and complex wines.

WINEMAKER’S NOTES

This Cabernet has distinct flavors of blackberry, blueberry, plus both red and black currants with enticing fragrances of mocha and nutmeg. Subtle notes of chocolate and toasty vanillins add to the richness and length of this bold Cab, and are accompanied by fine grained tannins on a lengthy finish.

VINTAGE PROFILE
2013 was a pleasant growing season: it was long and certainly warm enough to ripen the fruit fully. The winemaking team loves vintages with rich fruit character and balanced acidity.

14 months aging in 73% French Oak (19% new) 27% American Oak.
